Run # 14 - Internal Injury

As you can above, I completed two runs yesterday as the streak reached 14 days. The first run was going pretty well until I reached the turnaround point at mile 3. Chuck and I noticed we ran the first mile pretty slow, but we did pick up the pace and a mile on the way out was 8:50. When we went to turn around, Chuck really picked it up and took off without me. I debated as to whether or not I wanted to try to keep up with him, but it was a good thing I didn't.

At just under mile 4 on the way back, I suffered a severe, severe, severe internal injury. I had no choice but to stop and walk. I wanted to reach 6 miles for the day to give me a total of 21 for the week, but I was left to walk. I tried sprinting at times to shake what was tearing me apart inside, but just couldn't do it. It was the Revenge of Chipotle, and I stood no chance. I had walked almost the final two miles back to my car when I could see Chuck running back towards me. I gave him some details on the injury, and he said he was surprised I didn't run off the canal and hit a wall. Trust me, it was intensely painful, and I'm not sure how I didn't.

After I spent about 30 minutes in treatment, I managed to drive home. Once there I felt better so I did another run. This one was just over 2 miles and it was one I had done twice earlier in the week. I didn't run as fast as I did then, but I felt great and my injury had healed. I managed to make it 6 miles for the day, 21 for the week, and run 14 was in the books.

Two weeks down. Fifty to go.
