I'm almost halfway home. November 20th I will turn 27.5 and will be .5 years away from my goal of at least a one year running streak.
The blog has gotten emptier and emptier, but the streak lives on, and that's all I can focus on at this point. To those people who've commented on the blog with statements like "come on man, update it, your blog sucks," - I implore you to do one thing: and that is just try to update a blog EVERYDAY. Let alone run everyday and then blog about it in depth.
I also get a kick out of people who say things like "you only run 1 mile a day? Oh I could do that, but who cares?"
I'm anxious to see everyone do it. The purpose of this blog is two fold: For me to record every run for the USRA (www.runeveryday.com) and to entertain those who read it from time to time. My pledge is to now make it more entertaining.
However, I have also inspired at least one other person to start a streak because of this. Sadly, his streak ended around # 60 or so due to a minor surgery and doctor's orders to stay off his feet to avoid popping a stitch.
I will probably add some things to it, and once I hit the year point I won't update it to reflect every run.
I am currently experiencing a lot of pain in my left leg/knee area when I run and I'm hoping it just goes away. If it doesn't, I may have to forego bigger events until I can "rest" - only a mile jog each day until it's 100%, but right now I'm fully intent on marathons on Dec. 2nd, January 13th, and then a relay at the end of February.
I'm also considering altering the look of this blog and adding some interesting things to it, like maps and stories of the runs. Or even pictures of me nearly getting hit by cars, flicked off by members of the white trash community, and having various things thrown at me. I once did get hit by a thrown cigarette butt.
Thanks for checking in, and when I revise the blog I will e-mail all four of you.
